Will you help us add #52Heroes?
We've added one K-9 Hero to our program every week for the last 12 months, yet we still have K-9 Heroes waiting for assistance, and the list grows daily. Our goal is to add 52 new retired K-9s to our program every 7 days. For $1 a week, you can help us add one more K-9 Hero into our pack each week in 2023.

Sometimes Heroes Need Help Too!
With your help, we can add more retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs to our program to give them the support they need for medical costs, food, rehabilitation, and death benefit assistance. Once they've retired, the government does not provide for them, and many of them are left without the relief they need to live comfortably in retirement. But you can change that!
It costs, on average, $4,000 per year to care for one K-9 Hero. Sometimes, when they require major surgeries or other live-saving procedures, it can cost much, much more. If you donate one dollar a week, you will make a huge impact in the lives of these K-9 Heroes. For far less than you would pay for a daily cup of coffee, you could bring comfort to a retired K-9 Hero in need. Please donate today!

Meet MWD Luna
Read this touching letter from MWD Luna's handler Elliott, as he explains how PK9H stepped in to help fund Luna's life-saving $18,000 surgery to give him more time with his best friend.
As a retired MWD, Luna enjoyed hiking and exploring her new home in San Diego, CA with me. Exuberant and full of energy, Luna hardly looked nine and a half years old. All of this came to a sudden halt in August of 2022 when Luna was beginning to suffer from various symptoms including nausea, weight loss, and decreased appetite. This episodic stint of nausea and lack of appetite had been happening for years and had gone undiagnosed. Finally, Luna was seen by the doctors at Veterinarian Specialty Hospital in San Marcos, CA, where they discovered an obstruction in her gastrointestinal tract.Â
Due to the location of the obstruction, Luna was a prime candidate for surgery. As the doctors suggested, the surgery was in a high-risk category because of Luna’s developing pneumonia, high blood pressure, and other physiological risks. Her surgery required close-monitoring and precision in order to not further complicate her ailed state.
This procedure quickly began to add up from a financial perspective, which placed tremendous strain on me to cover these costs out-of-pocket.
Thankfully, I reached out to Project K-9 Hero who immediately intervened to ensure that funds were available to cover Luna’s surgery. Without hesitation, Project K-9 Hero stepped in and covered the entire cost and the Founder, Jason Johnson, called me personally to assure me that, as part of the pack, he would oversee that every available asset would be committed to providing Luna with the best care possible.
Due to the skill of the doctors involved, Luna had a successful surgery and was cleared of the obstruction in her gastrointestinal tract. The doctors suggested that this obstruction could have been there for many years, causing her irritation and undue pain. She remained in the hospital for three days following the surgery to make sure she was healing properly.
During the entire process, Project K-9 Hero contacted me to show their support and encourage me that Luna would be well-cared for. Without the support of Project K-9 Hero, I would not be able to enjoy a new chance at life with Luna.Â
Today, Luna is back to being as puppy-like as I’ve ever seen her. She is a completely new dog, full of energy (and appetite) to continue living the best retired life possible.
I would encourage anyone who wants to support the welfare of these amazing dogs that diligently served our country to reach out to Project K-9 Hero and donate or volunteer to make a lasting impact for our four-legged heroes.Â
-Elliott
