Please Welcome MWD BBaldur (Y142)!

Please Welcome retired Military Working Dog (MWD) "BBaldur" (Y142) to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 265th Program Member! We were notified yesterday afternoon that BBaldur needed an emergency surgery to “Save His Life” from an obstruction in his intestines.

During the application process, his handler let us know that the estimate for this necessary procedure would be approximately $8,000.00. As a former service member in the midst of transitioning jobs, this would be an extreme financial hardship on him and his family.

Even with over 700 pending applications for medical assistance, we knew that this was a case that we at PK9H needed to assist with immediately. We approved his acceptance into our program as the surgery began. Throughout the evening, the surgeon was able to locate the blockage in BBaldur’s intestines and remove it. He is currently still in the animal hospital resting, and we are expecting a full recovery.

MWD BBaldur served for six years in the United States Marine Corps as a certified as a Patrol/Explosive Detection Dog. MWD BBaldur deployed in support of operations in Australia, Japan, and South Korea, as well as multiple missions aboard Naval Ships to support the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. When not on deployment, MWD BBaldur was stationed in Okinawa with the USMC’s 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion.

From today forward, PK9H will not only cover this emergency surgery, but all future office visits, prescriptions, procedures, and medical needs at 100% for the remainder of BBaldur’s life. It’s the least we can do for this Hero after all he has done to protect so many of our members of our military worldwide!
