It is with sadness that we let you know we lost these Pack Members in February of 2025. We salute them for their service and will never forget their contributions to our country.

MWD QQuanah (W304)
Program Member #212
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we pass on that retired Military Working Dog (MWD) QQuanah (W304) has passed due to his complications with cancer. A few months ago, MWD QQuanah went in for a herniated disk, but after an MRI and Ultrasound, it was determined that he had developed tumors from his chest wall that had spread to his spine.
He succumbed to those complications, and it devastated our staff at Project K-9 Hero, after he spent 776 consecutive days in our 24/7 care.
MWD QQuanah served with the U.S Army’s 513th Military Working Dog Det, as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Explosive Detection K-9, and was living a great life at our Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility for over two years with no other issues at all!
MWD QQuanah performed countless U.S. Secret Service missions, protecting the President of the United States. He also deployed to Afghanistan in 2016 to help protect American service members and millions of dollars in military assets. QQuanah spent thousands of hours supporting Fort Bliss, Texas and its neighboring communities with Law Enforcement, Anti-Terrorism, and Force Protection Measures. He is a TRUE American Hero!
Please take a moment to remember QQ, and thank him for all that he has done for our country!

K-9 Duke
Program Member #169
It is with extremely heavy heart that we said goodbye to K9Duke, our 169th Program Member to the Project K-9 Hero Pack. K-9 Duke honorably and faithfully served as a Narcotics Detection K-9 at the Menlo Park Police Department for six years before retiring with his Handler, Sergeant Ed Soares.
K-9 Duke was much more to his community than an enforcer of the laws. While he was responsible for seizing millions of dollars in illegal narcotics as well as drug trafficking related currency and assets, he was even more well known for giving back to others on and off the job.
Thus, earning him the “K-9 Flash Legacy Award” in 2021 at the #K9HeroAwards. Please take a moment to watch his video acceptance at: https://youtu.be/EGSZpPjtS9Q
K-9 Duke was a positive role model for children and adults alike all around the world. Duke dedicated his time to help children with autism, other disabilities, and those affected by bullying. He changed these children’s lives.
K-9 Duke starred in the movie the “Walking Point” as a faithful Marine War Dog during WW2, competed on America’s Top Dog, in the U.S. Canine Biathlon, and was a National Ambassador for Eukanuba. He has participated in Project K-9 Hero events at the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas, and has read our “K-9 Flash Becomes a Hero” book to the children of his community. Duke has visited patients in hospitals to provide them comfort and bring a smile to their face.
Duke has given so much back to the Global K-9 Network, it was an extreme honor for us at PK9HERO to be able to provide his medical care at 100% for the rest of his life. Please keep his Handler, Ed, and his family, in your thoughts and hearts!
Duke and Ed were the epitome of what makes an outstanding K-9 Team, and we at PK9H couldn’t be more proud to be affiliated with their unmatched professionalism and giving spirit to community and country.

K-9 Cruz
Program Member #202
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the passing of K-9 Cruz, who said goodbye with dignity and honor in the presence of his Handler and Family.
Cruz was retired from the San Jose Police Department in California, and was our 202nd program member.
Cruz honorably served five years as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9. During his career, Cruz assisted in over 30 apprehensions of high-risk violent felony suspects and over 500 successful surrenders of the same caliber criminals.
Cruz fought hard over the last few years with a series of medical issues with his back and spine that we helped assist with at PK9H. Most importantly, Cruz was deeply loved by his family, and he served the citizens of San Jose with true dedication and distinction.
When we at PK9HERO initially heard about this tragic diagnosis, we had no choice but to move K-9 Cruz to the top of the list out of our hundreds of pending applications and begin helping him immediately, which we were honored to do so since October of 2022.
Please take a moment to remember and honor K-9 Cruz for his bravery on and off the job! We will Never let him be Forgotten, after all he has done for his community and our country.

K-9 Nemo
Program Member #103
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share we lost Project K-9 Hero Pack Member #103, K-9 Nemo, due to complications from ongoing medical conditions.
Nemo served with honor and valor with the Williamson County TX, Sheriff's Office, as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9.
He was extremely well known as a star on the hit show Live PD on A&E, and had countless deployments on Patrol and SWAT to protect the citizens of his community and the great State of Texas!
Our Founder, Jason, knew this K-9 extremely well, as his Handler, Brian Dirner, was Jason's partner and roommate in Iraq, when they were there together handling Big Fuzz in 2008 & 2009, prior to him getting Nemo years later. Jason was honored to be able to take a bite from Nemo, and visit him while he was still active and retired at his home in Liberty Hill, Texas.
We at PK9H were honored to serve Nemo in retirement with his medical care. We will ensure that his legacy lives on Fur-Ever, and that he is Never Forgotten! Please keep Brian and his family in your thoughts.
