MWD VVladimir
Program Member #148
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share in the passing of retired Military Working Dog (MWD) VVladimir (T371) from health complications late last night in Great Falls, Montana.
At 14 years old, VVladimir was proudly the #298th member of the Project K-9 Hero Pack. MWD VVladimir served as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Explosives Detection K-9 with the United States Air Force for nine years, from 2011-2020.
MWD VVladimir distinguished himself by meritorious service as a Military Working Dog, assigned to the 9th Security Forces Squadron, 9th Mission Support Group, 9th Reconnoissance Wing, at Beale Air Force Base, California.
During his extensive career, VVladimir dedicated over 95,000 hours to explosive detection and searched 65,000 items with an outstanding accuracy rate of 99.99%. Additionally, Military Working Dog Vvaldimir deployed to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar , Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan twice, Al Jabar Air Base in Kuwait , Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait , and Al Dafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates in support of Operation “INHERENT RESOLVE” and “FREEDOM’s SENTINEL.” During that time he searched over 5.5k vehicles and performed over 1K hours of base defense with no lapses in security.
While stateside and overseas, VVladimir was assigned as to the protection detail for the President of the United States, Vice President of the United States, First Lady of the United States, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and many other U.S. Dignitaries and Foreign Dignitaries abroad. During these operations he provided security to over 150,000 personnel while also serving as a psychological deterrence to prevent potential hostilities for world leaders, while in support of the United States Secret Service and other Federal agencies.
While assigned to these missions, in direct support the President of the United States, Vvladimir searched 2,800 vehicles and critical infrastructure ensuring air tight security with no mishaps.
Please take a moment to say goodbye to this exceptional Military Working Dog, as it was our absolute honor to serve him. We at Project K-9 Hero will ensure that MWD VVladimir is never forgotten.
