Project K-9 Hero Supports the National Service Animals Memorial
Project K-9 Hero is proud to stand alongside other leading service animal organizations in supporting the National Service Animals Memorial (NSAM). This first-of-its-kind national monument, authorized by Congress, will be built in Washington, D.C., to honor the invaluable contributions of service animals and their handlers throughout history.
Advancing to the Site Selection phase, NSAM is now identifying the best location within the nation's capital. This milestone was made possible by the support of premier service animal organizations, including Project K-9 Hero, U.S. War Dogs Association, Canine Companions, Guide Dog Foundation, America’s VetDogs, Bergin College of Canine Studies, and Paws for Purple Hearts. The Kennel Club of Philadelphia also contributed a generous donation.
Jason Johnson, Founder of Project K-9 Hero, shared, “We at Project K-9 Hero are so honored to support the NSAM, as it directly aligns with our mission of spreading awareness about the dedication and sacrifices our nation’s Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs have made for our communities and country. While this memorial will represent service animals that contribute in many different aspects, it is important to us as an organization to help ensure they are all recognized for the special abilities and talents they provide us on many different levels.”
As NSAM moves forward, fundraising efforts remain crucial, as all national memorials are privately funded. The memorial will feature an interactive educational phone app and online learning programs to inspire and educate future generations about the profound impact of service animals.
Project K-9 Hero is honored to be part of this initiative, ensuring that the legacy of our nation’s working and service animals is preserved and celebrated for years to come.
