Please Welcome K-9 Axos

We at Project K-9 Hero would like to welcome K-9 “Axos” (Y450), from the U.S. Coast Guard, to the Pack as our 285th overall program member.
K-9 Axos is a nine-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer, that was active from 2017-2024, as 1 of 18 Explosive Detection Canines in the USCG. In his seven years of service, Axos was assigned to the Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) East. While assigned to MSST, Axos was detailed to thousands of hours protecting the American Public, Service Members, and High-Ranking Dignitaries to include the President of the United States.
His special assignments included working Tunnel Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) with Border enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), Presidential Inaugurations and Funerals, Fleet Weeks, State of the Union Addresses, Marathons, and the Super Bowl, just to name a few. Axos also participated in call outs supporting local law enforcement for bomb threats at residential, commercial, and federal buildings.
His handler has been diagnosed with a severe medical condition forcing him into an early retirement from active-duty service. Due to this service-connected condition, he will be unable to continue working and care for his family at the level he was, which includes five young children. Regardless of Axos' exemplary service to our country, all of his future medical bills, food, check-ups, medications, and office visits become the responsibility of his handler.
As of today, we are honored to now be taking care of this Hero for the remainder of his life financially so his handler can focus on his own health issues and providing for his family. Thank you K-9 Axos for your dedicated service and protection to the U.S. Coast Guard, the communities you have served in, and the United States of America. Welcome to the PK9HERO Pack!
