Please Welcome K-9 Odin #305

Please welcome K-9 “Odin” to the Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 305th Program Member. Odin honorably served at the Honolulu Police Department, in the Specialized Services Division, from 2016 to 2022 as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Explosives Detection K-9.

K-9 Odin is a nine year old Dutch Shepherd that spent six years serving the State of Hawaii, helping keep their citizens and visitors safe from dangerous criminals. Throughout his career, Odin participated in over 100 tactical operations all throughout the island. This includes explosive detection sweeps for international dignitaries and major community events. Odin was also a key resource used for locating fugitives and missing persons through his tracking abilities, as well as SWAT assists to apprehend suspects in the most austere of environments. He conducted evidence searches to help find important articles to assist detectives with the prosecution of crimes. Plus, K-9 Odin proudly took 1st place in Patrol Scenario, at the 2019 Police Week K-9 Island Competition.

Now that Odin is retired, his medical care is no longer covered by those he served, causing an extreme financial hardship on his Handler. He has severe debilitating medical conditions in his hips and back legs from his years of service to his community. Since retiring from service with Odin, his Handler stated, “due to the high cost of routine veterinary visits, I have not been able to afford vet care since his retirement in 2022.”
