Please Welcome K-9 Anik #339

Please welcome K-9 “Anik” to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, as our 339th Program Member. K-9 Anik honorably served with the Chattanooga Police Department, TN from 2015 to 2025 as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9.
K-9 Anik is a 11-year-old German Shepherd who turns 12 on June 15th. K-9 Anik served his community for 10 years specializing in conducting narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, handler protection, building searches, area searches, and tracking suspects.
During his career, K-9 Anik has assisted the DEA, TBI, Homeland Security, ATF, FBI, US Marshals Service, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Collegedale Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, and the East Ridge Police Department with felony level investigations.
K-9 Anik also assisted with numerous CPD Investigations units, such as Robbery, Narcotics, SVU, Major Crimes, and Fugitive Unit. K-9 Anik assisted on countless arrest warrants and search warrants with CPD’s SWAT Team.
K-9 Anik is also credited with saving his first Handler’s life during a traffic stop, where the violator became aggressive towards his Handler. A struggle ensued, and K-9 Anik was deployed from the patrol car’s “door popper.” He engaged the suspect, making it possible for his Handler to effectively place the suspect in handcuffs.
K-9 Anik also located a suspect after tracking for 1.5 miles, where the violator tried to pull a firearm out of his coat. K-9 Anik knocked the firearm out of the suspect's hand and pulled the suspect to the ground, where officers took him into custody.
In 2022, K-9 Anik earned the honor of “Dual Purpose” Top Dog at the United States Police Canine Association, (USPCA) Region 22 Fall Trials. K-9 Anik also took part in the 2022 USPCA Nationals Patrol/Narcotics Trials, earning 1st place in Agility. K-9 Anik was also on scene as part of the response team to the July 16th, 2015 terrorist attack at the Naval Operations Support Center in Chattanooga. During his service, he assisted in the recovery of over 50 firearms and seizure of over than 2800 pounds of illegal street narcotics.
K-9 Anik was officially retired from service just last week, and in retirement he has been diagnosed with a severe skin condition. He often will develop cysts on his body, along his neck, and down along his back. K-9 Anik is also being currently treated for back leg issues (arthritis), which he currently is going through ongoing treatment with muscle relaxers and Hydro Therapy.
We understand that the cost of veterinary care is expensive, especially for an actively serving Police Officer working with a new K-9 partner. The very last thing we at Project K-9 Hero want to see is Anik go without the medical assistance he needs just because his bills were not affordable. Therefore, we decided to step up immediately and pay for Anik’s medical care at 100% for the rest of his life.
Please take a moment to enjoy these great photos of K-9 Anik, and welcome him as our 339th Pack Member. It’s our honor to induct Anik, as he spent four years in the same unit as our recently passed National Ambassador, K-9 Yoube!
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have a place to stay for Heroes like Anik. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
