Please Welcome K-9 Atos #406

Please welcome K-9 Atos as the 406th member to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, and the newest resident to our Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility in Tennessee. Atos served with valor and distinction in the State of Kentucky, and we at Project K-9 Hero were honored to be called upon to assist this Hero after unforeseen exigent circumstances left him needing a home in retirement.

Atos honorably served as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9 from 2019 through 2026. During that time, Atos responded to calls for service, tracked suspects, and was very successful in seizing illegal narcotics. He was trained and remained proficient in obedience, building searches, area searches, article searches, tracking/trailing, and aggression control. Atos was also the department’s public relations go to for demonstrations for community events or visiting schools due to his calm and respectful demeanor.

Atos had an exemplary career. He was officially retired on July 3rd, 2026 at absolutely no fault of his own. An unfortunate incident led to the passing of his Handler while they were still actively working together. This left Atos needing our assistance at Project K-9 Hero, to ensure he had a proper home to retire to and that his medical care was going to be covered for the rest of his life, after this tragic incident.

We were contacted by the administration of his agency and worked directly with them for the past two months to bring K-9 Atos to our facility on September 10th, 2026.
