Please Welcome K-9 Freddie #354

Please welcome retired K-9 “Freddie” (B642) to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, as our 354th Program Member.
K-9 Freddie, a male Labrador Retriever, honorably served with the Nashville Airport Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security/Transportation Security Administration - TSA, for five years. K-9 Freddie was an exceptional Explosives Detection Canine, and performed his duties with distinction at the Nashville International Airport (BNA), as well as other high profile assignments across the United States.
K-9 Freddie honorably worked from May 2020 to July 2025, protecting millions of traveling public and visitors to Nashville each year, responding to suspicious items, unattended bags, and vehicle sweeps all while keeping BNA safe. Freddie was assigned to details to protect three separate Presidents of the United States, to include the past Presidential Inauguration in January in Washington D.C. Freddie assisted with explosive sweeps at Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida, and passed every evaluation he ever had with flying colors.
While Freddie was still actively working, he was diagnosed with Fungal Pneumonia, which infiltrated into his lungs. Freddie was hospitalized and nearly lost his life to this condition that is directly related to his work as a detection dog. This illness, which he is still currently battling and on medication for, led Freddie to an early medical retirement on July 1st, 2025 at just seven years old.
Now that Freddie is retired, his medical care is no longer covered by the government or his department, causing a financial hardship on his Handler, who is a still actively serving as a K-9 Handler.
We understand that the cost of veterinary care is expensive, especially for a Police Officer with a family. The very last thing we at Project K-9 Hero want to see is Freddie go without the medical assistance he needs just because his bills were not affordable. Therefore, we were honored to step up immediately and pay for Freddie’s medical care, frequent office visits, necessary prescription medication, and any future diagnostic testing or surgeries for the rest of his life at 100%.
Please take a moment to welcome K-9 Freddie as our 354th Pack Member. We are honored to be Protecting him, after all that he has done to Protect our country!
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have funding for Heroes like Freddie. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
