Please Welcome K-9 Ghost #310

Please welcome K-9 Ghost as our 310th Program Member inducted into our Project K-9 Hero Pack. Ghost bravely served as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9, from 2016 through 2023, with Goldsboro Police Department, in North Carolina.

During his seven years of service, K-9 Ghost was responsible for hundreds of narcotic finds that led to arrest or seizure. K-9 Ghost also assisted multiple local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies with the service of search warrants including the apprehension of violent criminals. Ghost contributed to 13 apprehensions with a bite, and many more that surrendered without resistance because of his presence. K-9 Ghost also has several trailing/tracking successes that resulted in the arrest of felony suspects. Additionally, Ghost was also used in locating spent shell casing at shots fired calls within the city, and has located multiple firearms within his career that were discarded from fleeing suspects.

Ghost was imported from Poland in 2015, and will be 10 years old this coming December 10th.

On August 31st, 2023, K-9 Ghost was medically retired from service, due chronic ear infections that led to the rupture of his ear drum. In the last year, K-9 Ghost’s ear has gotten worse and a tumor was recently located in his right ear canal.  He is scheduled for an invasive surgery on November 19th to remove the tumor that is expected to be a total cost of $6,600.00. Regardless of K-9 Ghost’s honorable service to the citizens of North Carolina, all of his medical bills are now the responsibility of his Handler.
