Please Welcome K-9 Kato #351

Please welcome retired K-9 “Kato,” a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection Dog, to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, as our 351st Program Member, from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Texas.
Kato, a nine-year old Belgian Malinois, faithfully served his communtity for seven and a half years, with a highly productive career that led to over 600 Deployments and 350 Criminal Arrests. This totaled over 750 lbs of illegal narcotics being recovered, and $1.9 million dollars in seized currency.
Kato was also featured on the television show Live PD on A&E, and as a contestant on America’s Top Dog in between his public relations visits to schools and with the children of the community.
In December 2023, Kato was diagnosed with acute toxic hepatitis. He spent two weeks on IV fluids, liver medication, and antibiotics. Kato wasn't expected to make it through this life threatening condition. The treating veterinarian said his liver would never be the same, and his liver levels are being checked regularly. Now approaching 10 years old, Kato is also showing signs of severe arthritis, and is currently on expensive joint supplements to help with his mobility.
On August 26th, 2025, Kato was officially retired from service due to his medical condition and age.
The future costs of any of Kato’s medical bills now fall soley on his Handler, who is still currently serving as a Deputy. We are honored to step up immediately and pay for Kato’s medical care, frequent office visits, necessary prescription medication, and any future diagnostic testing or surgeries for the rest of his life at 100%.
Please take a moment to welcome K-9 Kato as our 351st Pack Member, as we are honored to serve another Hero from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Texas!
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have funding for Heroes like Kato. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
