Please Welcome K-9 Mossberg!
Please welcome K-9 Mossberg, as our 267th Program Member, inducted into Project K-9 Hero! K-9 Mossberg honorably served as a Certified Human Remains Detection K-9 from 2016 through 2021 with multiple organizations throughout the State of Texas.
During his five years of service with The Woodlands Fire Department, the Navasota Fire Department, and Special K-9s (Volunteer) Search and Recovery he deployed on a combined 27 cases for human remains that ranged from natural disasters, open water searches, to wilderness search and rescue operations.
K-9 Mossberg was tasked with filling the paws of PK9H Ambassador and 2020 Search and Rescue Dog of the Year, K-9 Remington. The two lived together and were best friends. After the loss of K-9 Remington, due to his long battle with cancer, Mossberg began to show signs of PTSD, and was determined to retire in 2021 due to the diagnosis.
Recently, K-9 Mossberg has had several lumps appear, which are feared to be cancerous as well. Going through a second long battle with a working dog fighting this disease would be an extreme financial and emotional burden on Mossberg’s handler and family.
Regardless of Mossberg’s exemplary service to the American Public, all of his medical costs are now the responsibility of his handler since he has retired. Project K-9 Hero, with your support, will now be covering all of his future office visits, medications, and surgeries at 100%, for the rest of his life.
Please take a moment today to welcome K-9 Mossberg to the Pack! PK9H is here to protect you after all you have done to serve the United States of America.
