Please Welcome K-9 Piton #315

Please welcome K-9 Piton as the 315th member to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, and the newest resident to our Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility in Tennessee.
Piton is a very special case, and we at Project K-9 Hero were honored to be called upon to assist this Hero, after exigent circumstances had left him needing a home in retirement.
Piton honorably served as an Explosives Detection K-9 for the United States Capitol Police from 2018 through 2024. During that time, Piton conducted explosives detection screening for daily security operations in Washington D.C., which includes but is not limited to VIP arrivals (POTUS, VPOTUS, Foreign Dignitaries etc…) Joint Session of Congress, State of the Unions, and Inaugurations.
Piton was having a stellar career until he was retired with his Handler earlier this year. The reason for the early retirement was because his Handler was diagnosed with brain cancer. He was recently moved to hospice, with potentially only nine months left to live, according to his family.
This left Piton in need of immediate placement in a new home, and we at PK9H were contacted to see if we could assist. Given the circumstances, we knew that we had to help Piton and his Handler. We were able to coordinate with the family, and bring K-9 Piton to our facility earlier this week. He is settling in nicely, and we hope to place him in the perfect fur-ever home just after the first of the year, as he is well mannered, and does not have any aggression or behavioral issues like many of our other K-9s here.
Even after adoption, Project K-9 Hero will be covering all of his future office visits, prescription food, diagnostic testing, medications, and surgeries at 100%, for the rest of his life. It is the least we can do for K-9 Piton, for dedicating his life to protecting us! Most importantly, we are taking that burden off of his Handler, so he can focus on fighting for his life as he battles brain cancer.
Please take a moment today to welcome K-9 Piton to the Pack! He is the second Hero we have placed in our Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility from the U.S. Capitol Police, following in the paws of K-9 Dutch. PK9H is here to protect you after all you have done to serve the United States of America.
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have medical bill payments for Heroes like Piton. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
