Please Welcome K-9 Rikki
Please welcome our newest Project K-9 Hero National Ambassador and Program Member #287, Tactical K-9 “RIKKI” into our program, as he officially retired this week from ATF Special Response Team (SRT) One, out of the Detroit, Michigan Field Office.
Born in the Netherlands on November 20th in 2014, K-9 Rikki is a highly trained Dutch Shepherd who deployed throughout the United States to conduct High-Risk Search and Arrest Warrants, Undercover Operations, and Manhunts of some of the most wanted and dangerous criminals in America.
K-9 Rikki annually certified in Obedience, Area Searches, Tracking, Building Searches, and Aggression Control to maintain a sharp skill set. Rikki participated in over 250 SRT Tactical Operations nationally during his seven year assignment in the federal government. A recent internal promotion for his handler, that came with a greater amount of travel and responsibility where he couldn’t keep Rikki with him, allowed for an opportunity for Rikki to come work with us at our nonprofit. We at Project K-9 Hero are honored to be called upon to provide the best possible care for him at our Rehabilitation and Rehoming Facility for the remainder of his life!
K-9 Rikki was the operational replacement our beloved and legendary, K-9 Axel (PK9H Member #18), at Special Response Team One. Now K-9 Rikki was brought here specifically to fill his paws as a National Ambassador for our organization in a similar manner. Rikki will spend his days at our 177-Acre National Headquarters in Tennessee, at the office each day with K-9 Yoube, spreading awareness of our mission. Rikki will also be our new spokesman for the 2024 “K-9 Hero Act” and for other speaking engagements with our Founder to the public and Members of Congress.
Take a moment to welcome K-9 Rikki as our 287th Program Member to the PK9HERO Pack. This is the third ATF SRT Tactical K-9 that we have been entrusted with caring for in retirement since 2017. It is an absolute honor to be a vetted resource for the U.S. Government and the Federal Law Enforcement Community when Heroes like Axel, Rip, and Rikki need the best life possible after their faithful service to our nation!
