Please Welcome K-9 Rocky #402
Please welcome retired K-9 “Rocky” to the Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 402nd Program Member.
K-9 Rocky is a nine-year-old male German Shepherd who honorably served with U.S. Customs and Border Protection for six years, from 2019 to 2025. K-9 Rocky is a Narcotics and Concealed Human Detection Dog that served on the Southwest Border of the United States.
During his career, Rocky alerted to, located, and seized millions of dollars of illegal narcotics attempting to enter our borders, ports, and airports. Rocky specialized in searching parcels, packages, luggage, and containers attempting to enter the United States. In addition to that, he participated in narcotics and human trafficking related operations and search warrants with CBP, DEA, FBI, Los Angles Police Department, and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. When not actively trying make the United States safer, Rocky was participating in community events doing demonstrations for the citizens and children at schools, and helped lead their Explorer Program.
Rocky has been enjoying a wonderful retirement outside of the Los Angeles area, until he was attacked by a poisonous rattlesnake in the yard in August that resulted in life threatening injuries. We at Project K-9 Hero received an emergency, after-hours call, and were honored to help save this Hero at a cost of $6,680.85.
Now that Rocky is retired, his medical care is no longer covered by those he served, regardless of how many millions of dollars he has helped seize. We understand that the cost of veterinary care is expensive, especially for an actively serving federal government employee. The very last thing we at Project K-9 Hero want to see is Rocky go without the assistance he needed and lose his life, just because his bills were not affordable. Therefore, we were honored to step up immediately and pay for Rocky’s medical care, frequent office visits, necessary prescription medication, and any future diagnostic testing or surgeries for the rest of his life at 100%.
