Please Welcome K-9 Rudy #382
Please welcome our newest Project K-9 Hero Program Member #382, Tactical K-9 “Rudy” into our Pack. K-9 Rudy faithfully served with the ATF Special Response Team (SRT) Three, out of the Dallas, Texas Field Office, as the operational replacement for K-9 Rip (PK9H #161), and where he conducted dozens of joint missions with our National Ambassador, K-9 Rikki (PK9H #287).
Born in Slovakia on July 22nd in 2020, K-9 Rudy is a highly trained Belgian Malinois who deployed throughout the United States to conduct High-Risk Search and Arrest Warrants, Undercover Operations, and Manhunts of some of the most wanted and dangerous criminals in America. Rudy has been credited with the capture or physical apprehension of some of the most violent suspects in America, to keep our country and communities safe.
K-9 Rudy annually certified in Obedience, Area Searches, Tracking, Building Searches, and Aggression Control to maintain a sharp skill set. Rudy participated in 150 SRT Tactical Operations nationally during his assignment in the federal government. K-9 Rudy was retired on June 1st, 2025 and resides with his Handler and his family in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
K-9 Rudy is in need of an immediate surgery for some recently diagnosed issues he has developed post service. Now that Rudy is retired, his medical care is no longer covered by the government, causing a financial hardship on his Handler, who is also still actively serving in the SRT K-9 Unit, and is a father and a husband. We understand that the cost of veterinary care is expensive, especially for an active government employed family. The very last thing we at Project K-9 Hero want to see is Rudy go without the medical assistance he needs just because his bills were not affordable. Therefore, we were honored to step up and pay for Rudy’s medical care, frequent office visits, necessary prescription medication, and any future diagnostic testing or surgeries for the rest of his life at 100%.
Please take a moment to welcome K-9 Rudy as our 382nd Program Member to the PK9HERO Pack. This is the fourth ATF SRT Tactical K-9 that we have been entrusted with caring for in retirement since 2017, but the first one for medical assistance only.
Rudy, is joining PK9H in the paw steps of Axel, Rip, and Rikki, who all needed a home to retire to after their faithful service to our nation. It is an absolute honor to be a vetted resource for the U.S. Government and the Federal Law Enforcement Community to serve these outstanding members of the ATF Special Response Team when they need Project K-9 Hero’s help the most.
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have funding for Heroes like Rudy. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
