Please Welcome MPC Bak #407
Please welcome Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) “Bak” as the 407th member of our Project K-9 Hero Pack. MPC Bak is medically retired from the United States Navy. Bak is set to become a west coast ambassador with our organization, now that he was adopted out directly from the Special Operations Command to our PK9H Executive Board Member and Veterinary Critical Care Consultant, Dr. Erica O'Donnell.
Bak was previously assigned to a Handler on SEAL Team 3, where he spent his first years conducting service training and conditioning in preparation to deploy with the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Command. He was trained and completed exercises in Explosives Detection, Apprehension, Tracking, Fast-Roping, Rappelling, and Maritime Operations.
Bak was recognized as an exemplary working dog, especially in detection and apprehension assignments, but unfortunately medical issues encountered during pre-deployment forced him into an early retirement.
Due to personal circumstances, Bak's Handler was unable to adopt him after his service, but Dr. O’Donnell volunteered to take him into her home, and personally make sure he was afforded the opportunity to live out the rest of his life in comfort and stress free.
MPC Bak suffers from an extreme case of service related anxiety that he experienced during his pre-deployment training. As a new PK9H ambassador in the San Diego area for our organization, Project K-9 Hero will cover all medical care, frequent office visits, treatment, therapy, necessary prescription medication, supplements, and any future diagnostic testing, or surgeries he may need for the rest of his life at 100%.
His work as a K-9 Ambassador will allow us to showcase the need to protect every retired working dog who served our country, regardless of their amount of accolades, deployments, or awards.
