Please Welcome MPC Chico #401
Please welcome Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) “Chico” to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 401st Program Member. MPC Chico served with valor as an integral component of one of the U.S. Army’s elite airborne Light Infantry and Special Operations Units, the historic 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment (2/75).
MPC Chico served as a distinguished team member within the 2nd Ranger Battalion’s War Dog Program. Chico has conducted Special Operations training ranging from Direct Action Raids, Airfield Seizures, and the full spectrum of Multi-Purpose Canine Tactical Applications. MPC Chico has had multiple deployments (5 in total) across the world to meet the needs of his country and unit. His service undoubtedly increased the lethality, capabilities, and survivability of his fellow Rangers.
Throughout Chico’s career, he has worked with the nation’s most distinguished organizations in the United States Military, as well as high-level government agencies worldwide. He has trained with a plethora of partner forces abroad, elevating effectiveness of K-9 teams across the globe.
MPC Chico’s capabilities include a multitude of Special Operations tasks. He is able to Fast Rope Insertion and Extraction System (FRIES), Dual Dog Capability, Rappelling, Hoisting, Laser Acquisition, Interior/Exterior Search, Direct Action Raids, Apprehension, Tracking, and Explosive Detection. He has conducted training in urban, mountainous, jungle, and other extreme environments.
Early on in MPC Chico’s career, he was found to have high kennel anxiety. Eventually, this condition started affecting his ability to perform due to constant injuries. This threatened his career, but fortunately he was able to perform his job for over six years. This issue was well navigated by the service members in his unit, but posed health risks to the point of retirement at the age of seven. Now that he is retired with his original Handler, he is able to live a much more comfortable and relaxed life.
Now at age 14, Chico had a cyst on his front leg that burst and became infected. Chico required immediate surgery that was over a thousand dollars that we at Project K-9 Hero were honored to pay in full for his Handler even before he became a full member of our nonprofit.
MPC Chico has served our country with extreme valor and distinction. Due to his special medical needs, we are honored to accept this Hero into our program so Project K-9 Hero can continue to cover all future office visits, diagnostic testing, prescriptions, and surgeries at 100%, for the rest of his life.
