Please Welcome MPC Zero #363
Please welcome Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) “Zero” to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 363rd program member.
MPC Zero served for three years with the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. His service was instrumental in the 1st Ranger Battalion’s “War Dog Program.” MPC Zero deployed in support of the Global War on Terror in Afghanistan to help locate and capture high-value targets. He was utilized in classified Special Operations Missions performing Fast Rope Insertion (FRIES), Rappelling, Hoisting, Long Distance Movements, Raids, Scouting, Tracking, and Explosive Detection.
Throughout Zero’s career, he has worked with top tier organizations within the Department of Defense, as well as high-level government agencies from outside the DoD, such as the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team, undoubtedly elevating effectiveness of K-9 teams globally.
After retiring from service in October 2023, Zero was living a great life in retirement with his Handler in Wisconsin, until this past Friday afternoon, November 14th, 2025, when he became very lethargic and unresponsive. MPC Zero was rushed to the ER with internal bleeding, and the handler was forced to place $4,800 on his personal credit card to proceed so they could determine what was wrong with him.
On Saturday, November 15th, we at Project K-9 Hero were made aware of the situation, and a formal application was submitted to help save MPC Zero. After a brief interview with the Handler, the decision was made to immediately accept Zero into our Pack, and get him the medical help he needed to survive this complication. We started by having the $4800 taken off of the Handler’s card and placed on ours.
A Plasma Infusion was conducted, but the bleeding would not clot. We then approved a CT scan that showed a large mass on his spleen. We also approved a Splenectomy surgery that took place late Saturday night and into Sunday am, to remove the spleen and mass. The surgery was successful, and the mass has been sent off to the lab to determine if it is cancerous or not. Zero returned home on Monday to recover, while we await the labatory results. To date Project K-9 Hero has spent, $14,198.31 to save MPC Zero’s life (see the attched receipts for full details).
MPC Zero has served our country with valor and distinction. Due to his special medical needs we are honored to accept this Hero into our program so we can cover not only these costs, but all future office visits, diagnostic testing, prescriptions, and surgeries at 100%, for the rest of his life.
Please welcome MPC Zero into our PK9H Pack, it is an absolute honor to serve another Hero from the United States Army Rangers!
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have space for Heroes like Zero. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
