Please Welcome MWD BBerik #335

Please welcome Retired Military Working Dog “BBerik” (A048) as the 335th Member to our Project K-9 Hero Pack. MWD BBerik is retired from the United States Air Force, where he served with valor and distinction as a Patrol/Explosives Detection K-9 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

MWD BBerik’s active duty career spanned six years, which included conducting security sweeps for the President and Vice President of the United States on approximately ten separate missions. BBerik also conducted security missions for Foreign Diplomats domestically and abroad. MWD BBerik was deployed to the Country of Jordan in 2021 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

MWD BBerik is highly recognized by his Handler for his loyalty, dedication, and commitment while serving his country so selflessly and proficiently. However, due to a severe Hip Dysplasia condition that went undetected from birth, MWD BBerik was retired on April 8th, 2024 with an increasingly worsening medical issue that is greatly affecting his mobility.

Now living in Colorado, his Handler has been working extra jobs to attempt to pay for MWD BBerik’s treatments, which include red light therapy, water treadmill therapy, a prescription joint mobility diet, medication such as carprofen, and natural supplements such as salmon oil, chondroitin, and turmeric. All of this adds up to hundreds of dollars a month for his Handler, who is recently separated from active duty, and is pursuing a civilian career as a first responder.
