Please Welcome MWD Cash (Z390)

Please welcome Military Working Dog (MWD) "Cash" (Z390) to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 289th Program Member! MWD Cash spent six years assigned to the U.S. Army's National Training Center/Fort Irwin in California. MWD Cash is also our very first recipient from “The Department of the Army Civilian Police.”
MWD Cash, aka “Cash Man,” is an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois. Cash was born on the April 28th, 2016 and was accepted into the United States Army on June 28th, 2018. After spending seven months at the 341st Training Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX, Cash successfully graduated as a Patrol/Narcotics Detection Dog and was selected to go to Fort Irwin.
While at Fort Irwin, Cash has served more than 50,000 working hours without a complaint or hesitation. Cash has successfully located more than 40 instances of illegal drugs on the installation while on patrol or call-outs. MWD Cash was also given the title of the “Fastest K-9 in the Kennels” by running over 35 mph in a sprint.
MWD Cash served the Fort Irwin Community with honor, dignity, and compassion, ready to respond in a moment’s notice. However as of July 3rd, 2024, MWD Cash was medically retired, due to a history of Hygromas that led to multiple chest surgeries, and having prostate issues that became very painful for MWD Cash to perform his duties of service.
Luckily, Cash was adopted on July 3rd by a Military Family who was willing to take him in and give him a loving home. However, with his pre-existing medical conditions, that led him to an early retirement from the Army, the costs of what his medical needs are falls solely on them as adopters. As of July 4th, 2024, Project K-9 Hero will cover all future office visits, prescriptions, surgeries, and medical needs at 100% for the remainder of his life. It’s the least we can do for him after all Cash has done for our !
Please take a moment to welcome MWD Cash to our program, as we are honored to serve another deserving Military Working Dog from the United States Army MWD Program, and place him as our first recipient from The Department of the Army Civilian Police in our Pack!
