Please welcome Retired Military Working Dog “Emese” (C455) into our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 362nd Program Member.
MWD Emese was retired in October 2025 from the United States Air Force, due to medical issues with her spine, specifically, L7 Radiculopathy, Degenerative Joint Disease, and Intervertebral Foraminal Stenosis. She also sufffered from nerve impingement and neurological deficits, resulting in her dragging her hind leg.
However, due to a history of aggressive behavior in regards to overprotecting her Handler, MWD Emese was facing euthanasia because she was unable to be adopted out by any Air Force personnel who had previously worked with her. Her behavioral evaluation also didn’t allow her to be adopted out to the general public for safety concerns.
Once we at Project K-9 Hero became aware of the situation, we immediately made room at our 100%-capacity Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility to bring MWD Emese into our program.
MWD Emese served honorably as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Explosives Detection Dog in the United States Air Force from 2021 -2025, primarily at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, with the 4th Security Forces Squadron.
During her career, Emese “SWEPT OVER 70,000 VEHICLES AND FACILITIES. HER EFFORTS DETERRED AND DENIED BASE ACCESS TO EXPLOSIVE DEVICES AND MATERIALS THEREBY SAFEGUARDING OVER 12,500 PERSONNEL AND 7.5 BILLION DOLLARS IN DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE RESOURCES. ADDITIONALLY, SHE PERFORMED EXPLOSIVE DETECTION ACTIONS IN SUPPORT OF 18 UNITED STATES SECRET SERVICE MISSIONS. HER EXPERTISE WAS PARAMOUNT TO THE SUCCESSFUL PROTECTION OF THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, AS WELL AS DISGUISHED FIGURES. LASTLY, EMESE DEPLOYED TWO TIMES IN HER CAREER. FIRST TO AFRICA AND THEN QATAR IN SUPPORT OF OPERATIONS INHERANT RESOLVE, JUNIPER SHIELD AND FREEDOM SENTINEL. DURING HER DEPLOYMENTS EMESE EXPERTLY SCREENED 379 TONS OF AFCENT MUNITIONS FOR CENTCOM'S LARGEST MSA & ENABLING 2.4K COMBAT SORTIES. THE DISTINCTIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF MILITARY WORKING DOG EMESE C455 REFLECT CREDIT UPON THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE MILITARY WORKING DOG PROGRAM.” - Directly from her Certificate of Meritorious Service
Emese will be in our rehabilitation program until we feel she is ready for her next step towards a fur-ever home. We are extremely honored to be a trusted resource for the U.S. Military, and the Unites States Air Force (MWD Adoptions), when a Hero like Emese needs our help the most.
