Please Welcome MWD Iggy #410

Please take a moment to welcome retired Military Working Dog (MWD) “Iggy” to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as Program Member #410. Iggy proudly served as the United States Army's sole Vapor Wake Explosives Detection Canine from 2015 until his medical retirement in April 2025.

With extreme valor, Iggy provided over a decade of dedicated federal service stationed out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. MWD Iggy protected the President of the United States (POTUS), Vice President (VPOTUS), and Secretary of Defense, while directly catalyzing the establishment of municipal transit counter-terrorism canine programs, including the New York City Police Department's (NYPD) Vapor Wake unit.

MWD Iggy was medically retired due to severe right-hind neurological deficits (suspected Intervertebral Disc Disease [IVDD] or Degenerative Lumbosacral Stenosis [DLSS]) and will require specialized medical care support through Project K-9 Hero.

Now that his service is complete, all of Iggy’s medical care falls on the responsibility of his still actively serving Handler. Due to his special medical needs, we are honored to accept this Hero into our program so Project K-9 Hero can cover 100% of all future office visits, diagnostic testing, prescription medication, and any surgeries for the rest of his life.
