Please Welcome MWD Ludjo (Z251) #311

Please welcome retired Military Working Dog (MWD), United States Marine Corps, Combat Tracking Dog (CTD) "Ludjo" (Z251) to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 311th Program Member!

MWD Ludjo served with honorable distinction for five years in the United States Marine Corps as a certified Combat Tracker Dog stationed in Okinawa, Japan, with the USMC’s 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion. In addition to his patrol duties, MWD Ludjo participated in multiple real world scenarios to assist Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (SERE) for Fighter Jet Pilots while in forward deployed in Asia. During his career, MWD Ludjo also assisted in locating a missing child from Twentynine Palms at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, the world's largest Marine Corps training base. Since his retirement on September 16, 2021, Ludjo has been enjoying a comfortable life with his handler in Texas.

A few days ago, MWD Ludjo encountered ant poison that he accidentally ingested. It sent him into severe body tremors. Ludjo was rushed to the emergency room to save his life. After staying for several days, Ludjo made a recovery, but may experience long term neurological issues due to this unfortunate incident. The final ER bill totaled, $2,488.03, which PK9H was honored to take care of at 100%.

We had the handler’s initial charges reversed to our card since he had to get help from several friends and family to help his partner survive. Even though this Marine Veteran is working 40 plus hours a week, he stated that “I cannot afford his medical treatment without the help of others, or without going into severe debt or even bankruptcy.”

Taking care of this entire medical bill is the least we can do for Ludjo, after all he has done to protect so many of our members of our military worldwide!
