Please welcome Military Working Dog (MWD) "NNinja" (V672) to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 309th Program Member! MWD NNinja spent 10 years assigned to the U.S. Army's 525th Military Working Dog Detachment in Wiesbaden, Germany.
MWD NNinja was certified as a Patrol/Explosives Detector Dog - Enhanced (PEDD-E) that served with the utmost distinction during his career. While at Wiesbaden, NNinja was tasked with conducting law enforcement duties as well as explosive detection missions. NNinja was selected on 12 occasions to provide explosive detection support to the President of the United States. NNinja also conducted 30 explosives detection missions in support of several distinguished visitors to the USAG Wiesbaden area, to include former President George W. Bush, Secretaries of State, the Secretary of Defense, and several General Officers and visiting dignitaries.
NNinja deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom- Horn of Africa (OEF-HOA), and Multi Forces Observers (MFO) Egypt . While serving in Somalia from January - July 2019, NNinja performed several off-base patrols providing safety and explosives detection for the team that he was with. NNinja also provided base security by working at the access control point aiding to prevent IEDs or a potential attack to base facilities. His efforts earned him the Army Commendation Medal for valor.
Upon returning from Somalia, NNinja was diagnosed with cancer in his right ear. After complete removal of the ear, NNinja was declared cancer free and continued to perform his duties. NNinja was then selected for his second deployment, this time as part of Multi Forces Observers (MFO) Egypt . During his tour in Egypt, NNinja was the primary explosives dog for North Camp MFO. MWD NNinja provided detection capabilities to the the access control point as well as conducting post battle sweeps ensuring area security for all friendly forces.
Upon his return in January 2022, MWD NNinja re-certified and was awarded TOP DOG for his performance. Following certification, he immediately began conducting law enforcement duties and explosives sweeps for his local garrison base. MWD NNinja provided over 9,000 hours of Random Anti-Terrorism Measures for the USAG Wiesbaden and Italy communities. This aided in provided a safe working and living environment for 50,000 Soldiers, Civilians, and Family Members throughout the community.
MWD NNinja set the best example of a Military Working Dog. He was always ready, always willing, and always able to answer the call to duty. He supported the 525TH Military Police Detachment (MWD), the Combined Military Working Dog Detachment- Europe, 18TH Military Police Brigade, United States Army Europe and Africa, United States Secret Service, and the Office of the President of the United States.
Now retired, NNinja suffers from immense pain in his joints and has limited mobility, which causes him to be on expensive medications and monthly injections. Plus, with his former bout with cancer that took his ear, it is unknown what further issues he may face now that he is 12 years old.
Because of his dedication to serving our country, we are placing MWD NNinja in our program as our newest member. From today forward, PK9H will cover all future office visits, prescriptions, surgeries, and medical needs at 100% for the remainder of his life. It’s the least we can do for him after all he has done for our country!
