Please Welcome MWD Rudy #360

Please welcome Retired Military Working Dog “Rudy” (C312) as the 360th Member to our Project K-9 Hero Pack. MWD Rudy was medically retired from the United States Air Force on October 20th, 2025, where he served with valor and distinction as a Patrol/Explosives Detection K-9 at Peterson Air Force Base, CO, in the 21st Security Forces Squadron.

MWD Rudy’s active duty career spanned six years that included conducting security sweeps for the President and Vice President of the United States on approximately twelve separate Secret Service missions. Rudy also conducted 3,748 hours of explosive detection throughout all of his missions worldwide. MWD Rudy was deployed to Djibouti, Africa to Chabelley Airfield to enhance the security and safety of all personnel in the region.

MWD Rudy is highly recognized by his Handler for his loyalty, dedication, and commitment while serving his country so selflessly and proficiently. However, during his working career, Rudy has had a long history of medical issues that ultimately led to his early release from the military. This included a cancerous mass cell that was removed in 2023, and current diagnosis of Degenerative Lumbosacral Stenosis with Foraminal Stenosis. This is a condition where the spinal canal and the nerve openings in the lower back and sacrum narrow due to age-related wear and tear, causing pressure on nerves.

To ensure that his actively serving Handler does not have to go into extreme personal debt, or that MWD Rudy goes without the medical treatment he needs, Project K-9 Hero will be covering his medical expenses at 100% for the rest of his life. This includes all office visits, treatments, supplements, prescription food, and potential surgeries if required.
