Please Welcome MWD Tarzan (W263)

Please Welcome Retired Military Working Dog (MWD) "Tarzan" (W263) to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 286th Program Member! MWD Tarzan spent six years assigned to the U.S. Air Force’s 802D Security Forces, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
MWD Tarzan was certified as a Patrol/Narcotics Detection Dog that served with the utmost distinction during his career. Tarzan deterred illegal activity on the base and pursued, bit, and held gate runner at Lackland AFB. Tarzan also successfully intercepted $3,000 worth of contraband from entering the U.S. Border when deployed to assist Customs and Border Protection.
Since retirement, Tarzan has been experiencing massive fluid build up in both of his back legs. Testing has began to try to determine the cause, but it has already exceeded several thousand dollars that his family is having to pay out of pocket. Currently, Tarzan is living with his handler, who is now separated from service, and with her still-serving, active-duty husband.
Tarzan is in immediate need of determining what is causing his medical condition, and the diagnostic testing alone is extremely costly. This leaves only two options: for his handler to go into extreme personal debt, or for MWD Tarzan to go without help.
Since we at Project K-9 Hero don’t want to see either of those happen, we are placing Tarzan in our program as our newest member. PK9H will cover all future office visits, prescriptions, surgeries, and medical needs at 100% for the remainder of his life. It’s the least we can do for him after all he has done for our country!
Please take a moment to welcome MWD Tarzan to our program, as we are honored to serve another deserving Military Working Dog from the United States Air Force, and our third recipient who is now living in the State of Hawaii.
