Please Welcome SSD Jaye (Y199) #378
Please welcome retired Military Working Dog (MWD), Specialized Search Dog (SSD) “Jaye” (Y199), as the 378th Member to our Project K-9 Hero Pack. SSD Jaye retired from the United States Marine Corps on April 15th, 2020, where she served with valor and distinction as an off-leash Explosives Detection K-9 with the USMC’s 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion, Ashley Kennels, at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
SSD Jaye’s active duty career spanned six years that included conducting security sweeps for the President of the United States as well as protecting her Marine Corps Base from acts of terrorism. As an off-leash detection K-9, Jaye also completed training missions with the ATF Search Enhanced Evidence K-9 (S.E.E.K.) Program, and the United States Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC).
Now in retirement, SSD Jaye is experiencing a myriad of health issues. Jaye is currently diagnosed with Osteoarthritis and hip dysplasia. She is on various medications that cost $200-300 a month.
She also has a large mass on her chest that is being monitored that tested as a lipoma. She also has Grade 3/4 dental disease, despite dental cleanings, that are also extremely expensive to manage.
To ensure that her actively serving Handler, who now is a Police Officer in the State of Montana, does not have to go into extreme personal debt, or that SSD Jaye goes without the medical treatment she needs, Project K-9 Hero will be covering her medical expenses at 100% for the rest of her life. This includes all office visits, treatments, supplements, prescription food, and potential surgeries if required.
Please take a moment today to welcome SSD Jaye to the Pack! It is our honor at Project K-9 Hero to serve her after all she has done to protect our nation!
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have funding for Heroes like Jaye. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
