help our heroes reach the goal

Project K-9 Hero is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization, and your donation is tax deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. Please keep your receipt as your official record. We'll email it to you upon successful completion of your donation.

Why Do You Give?

Everyone has a reason they give.

Some people give because a dog once protected their family. Others give out of gratitude or loyalty. And many give because they know a retired K-9 Hero’s life can change the moment someone chooses to care.

For our K-9 Heroes, your reason becomes their lifeline, funding surgeries, creating second chances, and opening the door to new homes and new hope.

This year, fifty-two new dogs needed exactly that. And you made it possible.

For far less than you would pay for a daily cup of coffee, you could bring healing to a retired K-9 Hero in need.

Please donate today because it is your generosity that ensures we can continue providing the care these Heroes have earned through their service.

I give for K-9 Fury and Marc

Reunited in retirement, they deserve to start 2026 free from the burden of debt.

After five years of serving with K-9 Fury, Marc retired. Fury continued to serve until 2024. And then, Marc adopted him. They had been living together for over a year when emergency bloat surgery and a subsequent splenectomy last month left Marc and his retired spouse with $17,500 in Fury's medical bills on a credit card. We could not let the costs of Fury’s emergency, life-saving surgery follow his family into the new year.

Your generosity gives K-9 Fury and his family peace from the debt that would have awaited them in 2026.

By covering Fury’s surgery, post-op care, and ongoing medications, you gave him a chance to heal without compromise and lifted the crushing financial burden from his family.  Fury is now recovering and gaining strength. He is able to enjoy his retirement, while Marc has peace of mind knowing that your support ensures all of Fury's needs are met. Because of you, this Hero’s retirement is protected, proving that when you give, you care for both K-9 Heroes and the humans who love them.

Give for K-9 Fury & Marc

Your donation ensures Fury's family can start 2026 off strong, helping many lives, not just one.

I give for MWD Rudy and Tech Sgt. Pembleton

Together, they served. Together, they deserve care and peace of mind.

After six years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, MWD Rudy retired carrying both a record of extraordinary duty and a long list of medical challenges. From protecting the President and Vice President on more than a dozen Secret Service missions to deploying overseas in defense of our nation, he gave everything he had. But Degenerative Lumbosacral Stenosis, past cancer treatment, and ongoing medical needs meant his retirement would be anything but simple, and Tech Sgt. Pembleton, still actively serving, faced the crushing reality of how to afford Rudy’s care on her own.

    Your generosity answered that question.

By covering Rudy’s medical expenses for life, you gave him comfort and stability, and gave his Handler the peace of mind she’d earned beside him. Two partners who once protected our country now have the safety net they deserve. Your support ensures Rudy receives the treatment he needs without forcing Tech Sgt. Pembleton into financial hardship, proving that when you give, you protect them both.

Give for MWD Rudy & Tech Sgt. Pembleton

Your donation ensures Rudy’s Handler can manage her K-9 Hero’s costly medical bills without financial sacrifice, helping two lives, not just one.

    I give for K-9 Guapo

His service left him overstimulated and facing euthanasia. He deserved a second chance at life.

After serving with distinction as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection Dog for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida,   K-9 Guapo faced an unexpected challenge. While his career included dozens of successful deployments and captures, he developed severe behavioral issues that made him unsafe for duty. Without intervention, euthanasia was quickly becoming the only solution.

    Your generosity changed his life.

We welcomed Guapo to Project K-9 Hero’s Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility, where he has a safe place to heal and grow under the watchfulness of our experienced K-9 Rehabilitation Specialists. He will remain in our care until the right forever home is found, and your support helps give him a second chance at life. By funding his rehabilitation, you help transform a dog once deemed unmanageable into a Hero with hope. Guapo now has the stability, guidance, and time he needs, thanks to you!

Your donation funds rehabilitation, giving dogs like Guapo the care and stability they need to thrive.

I give for K-9 Piton and his family.

His devoted Handler faced a life-changing medical crisis. Through no fault of his own, Piton needed a new home.

After years of honorable service as an Explosives Detection K-9 for the United States Capitol Police, K-9 Piton faced a sudden life change. When his Handler was diagnosed with brain cancer and forced into early retirement, Piton needed a new home immediately.

    Your generosity made that possible.

Piton came to Project K-9 Hero’s Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility, a safe place to live while we found him the perfect family. Even after adoption, all of his medical care (office visits, prescription food, diagnostics, and surgeries) was covered at 100%, freeing his Handler to focus on fighting cancer.

Because of you, Piton spent his final months loved, cared for, and surrounded by a family that cherished him. Your support gave a Hero the comfort and dignity he had earned through years of service, and reminded us all that even after retirement, these dogs deserve our protection as much as they protected us.

Give for K-9 Piton & His Family

Your donation helps fund rehoming services to help dogs like Piton get the loving homes they need.

I give for K-9 Bo and Faye

Surgery healed Bo's pain so he and Faye could continue to heal children’s hearts.

Sgt. Bo comforted schools, children, and communities. He brought care to the kids affected by The Covenant School Shooting in Nashville, Tennessee. When an injury forced him into early retirement, he still wanted to serve, but the cost of his care was unaffordable for his now-retired Handler and her husband.

Your generosity took the weight off their shoulders.

Thanks to you, Bo’s surgery, rehabilitation, medications, and ongoing medical needs are covered at 100%, allowing him to continue visiting schools and helping children heal alongside his devoted Handler, Faye. Even in retirement, Bo remains a light in the lives of those who need him most. Because of your support, this Therapy Dog continues to volunteer, proving that retirement does not end a Hero’s impact—and that your generosity keeps both Bo and Faye covered and able to serve their community.
