PROJECT K-9 HERO PARTNERS WITH CUSICK MOTORSPORTS FOR INDIANAPOLIS 500
Honoring our K-9 Heroes on Memorial Day Weekend.
Indianapolis, Indiana, May 25, 2023 – Project K-9 Hero and Cusick Motorsports are partnering for the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in recognition of the K-9 Heroes who support our nation through military and law enforcement service.
A passionate dog lover, Cusick Motorsports owner, Don Cusick, was enthusiastic to support Project K-9 Hero when the opportunity was suggested.
This is the third year Cusick Motorsports has fielded an entry for the Indy 500 with fan favorite driver, Stefan Wilson. Wilson was unfortunately injured during practice on Monday, May 22nd, and will not be competing this Memorial Day weekend, but veteran racer Graham Rahal will fill in while Wilson recovers.
Project K-9 Hero was founded in 2016 by Jason Johnson, a US Army Veteran, to ensure the best quality of life for our nation’s retired Military Working Dogs and Police K-9 Heroes through assistance with medical costs, food, rehabilitation, adoption, and end of duty services. The typical service of a military or law enforcement K-9 is about eight years, at which point they are retired and replaced. “Our purpose is to ensure that each K-9 Hero is rewarded with health and the way of life they deserve for their faithful and loyal service. We are so grateful to Don Cusick and the team for helping us share that mission through the Indy 500 and Memorial Day Weekend”.
Joy Dog Food is joining Project K-9 Hero as a brand partner for the weekend and beyond as a passionate supporter of their dedication to our nation’s K-9 Heroes.
Cusick Motorsports and Project K-9 Hero hope to continue the partnership beyond the Indy 500 to include additional races on the IndyCar Series schedule for 2023 and beyond. "What better way to support our Veterans and share my love of dogs than by taking this Memorial Day Weekend to recognize those who have served our country?"
