MWD RENO
MORE ABOUT RENO
Career Stats: MWD Reno served in patrol/explosive detection, until a severe skin condition forced him into a early medical retirement at just four years old. His handler resided in the military barracks, and was unable to have her partner retire with her there due to military regulations. She reached out to PK9H because she stated that, “He will be put down if I can't find somewhere that will take him in” and that she “can’t stand to see him put down at such a young age!”
We began working with his handler in late September to ensure that MWD Reno would not be euthanized, and we fully committed to helping him in retirement at all costs. We coordinated with the U.S. Army as Reno’s retirement became official in early December. We made the necessary logistical accommodations to ship Reno via cargo to our Rehabilitation and Rehoming Facility. Reno is now spending retirement with his adopted family.
