MWD TOBI
MORE ABOUT TOBI
Career Stats: He spent the majority of his career assigned to the Presidential K-9 section at Joint Base Andrews (316th Wing). There he totaled over 4,500 vehicle inspections and 147 aircraft searches for the President of the United States, as well as and foreign leaders traveling to the National Capital Region. MWD Tobi deployed in 2019-2020 to an undisclosed location with the 332nd Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia. Tobi conducted explosive detection sweeps at President George H. W. Bush’s funeral, for the Department of State in Lima, Peru, and countless U.S. Secret Service missions. Tobi was fortunate to retire with his handler, who is still on active duty and handling a new MWD with the USAF at Patrick Space Force Base, FL.
One day, MWD Tobi was rushed to the ER with abdominal pain which revealed a 2cm mass on his spleen. The estimate that was given for the surgery was between $5,902.46 and $7,645.05. A cost that would place an extreme financial burden on any active duty military family. Tobi’s handler had no choice but to make the deposit of $1,870.00 so his partner could receive immediate treatment, and then he reached out to us at PK9HERO. After learning of the medical circumstances and financial burden, we immediately accepted MWD Tobi into our program and assured his handler that we would cover this cost at 100%. We also contacted the Aloha Pet & Bird Hospital, we asked them to completely refund the deposit and we placed our card on file for the entire cost.
