Please Welcome K-9 Usirev #366
Please welcome K-9 Usirev aka "Usi” to our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 366th Program Member! K-9 Usi served as a Dual-Purpose Patrol/Narcotics Detection K-9 with the Phoenix Police Department for six years.
During his six year career, K-9 Usi totaled over 250 deployments, successfully located over 60 criminal suspects, and compiled 11 suspect apprehensions, many of which were armed. Additionally, he had several narcotic finds which led to the seizure of at least 10 firearms.
Off-duty, K-9 Usi is known for his extremely mild temperament and social ability. He participated in several K-9 demonstrations for many different schools and organizations.
K-9 Usi was retired from the Phoenix Police Department in November 2025, on his 7th birthday, after he was diagnosed with several debilitating spinal disorders: Wobblers Syndrome, multilevel degenerative intervertebral disc disease, degenerative lumbrosacral disease with cauda equina impingement, cervical spondylomyelopathy and concurrent intramedullary spinal cord changes.
In simple terms, K-9 Usi suffers from spinal cord compression in the neck and low back, which causes a wobbly, uncoordinated gait, stumbling, weakness in his hindquarters, and neck/back pain.
Due to his ongoing medical needs with his spine and the financial burden those could place on his still actively serving handler, we are inducting K-9 Usi into our program so we can cover all future office visits, medications, diagnostic testing, and surgeries at 100%, for the rest of his life.
Welcome to the pack K-9 Usi, you are a true Hero! PK9H is here to protect you after all you have done to protect your community and our country.
Our Medical Fund will help ensure that we always have space for Heroes like Usi. Please donate today to continue supporting our life-saving abilities.
