April Brings Showers of Love to Our Heroes!
This month, we've been showered in love from our generous partners—and we're feeling deeply grateful. Here's one reason why:
Meet K-9 Lena. At just two years old, Lena suffered a devastating accident while on duty that left her unable to see and with severely limited use of her jaw. Despite her talent and dedication, she’s been medically retired far too early. Now, her care rests solely with her Handler—who loves her dearly but is facing a mountain of ongoing medical expenses.
That’s where we stepped in.
K-9 Lena has officially been accepted into our program. She’ll remain in our care, likely for the next decade or more, because she earned it. And because that’s exactly why this organization exists. Even without emergency surgeries, and without major medical unknowns, her basic care alone will cost around $40,000 in that time period. That cost is now our responsibility instead of her family's.
This month, we also helped K-9 Arlo, who needed urgent surgery to repair damage to his ears—care that cost just over $4,400.
These are the stories behind the fundraising.
This is why we’re here.
This is why we ask.
And this is why your support makes all the difference.
We’d like to give a heartfelt thank-you to:
-
Monster K9 Dog Toys, who donated $8,000 from their first quarter sales to help our Heroes.
-
Black Gold Explorer Dog Food, for their generous $5,000 donation to support our retired Program Members.
-
Nine Line Apparel, who gave $5,000 from the sale of their K-9 Callie collection.
And most of all, we thank YOU.
Whether you read our stories, share them with others, volunteer, or donate—your support is what makes this all possible. Our Heroes have what they need because of your generous heart.
Wishing you a beautiful month ahead!

Global Pet Expo
We want to thank our partners and sponsors at Redbarn Premium Pet Products for having us as special guests. Their entire team is extremely supportive of our mission, and we couldn’t be any more grateful. We created new contacts and connections for future partnerships to follow from this event, met with our existing sponsors, and introduced hundreds of people to K-9 Millie.

We were featured on DOGTV!
Watch their interview with our Founder/CEO Jason Johnson. It starts at the 9:00 minute mark and ends at the 21:00 minute mark. Thank you, DOGTV, for helping us spread awareness of our mission!

Murdoch's Grand Opening
We were invited to attend the Grand Opening of the Murdoch's in Seguin, Texas. Thank you to all who came out to learn about us and to Murdoch's for their ever-generous support of our mission.
World Police & Fire Games
Registration is still open for all qualified contenders. If you're a first responder with a K-9 partner, consider joining the K-9 Biathlon, Explosives Detection, or Narcotics Detection categories! A portion of the proceeds will benefit our K-9 Heroes. Spread the word to all who may be interested!
Meet K-9 Henry
We've launched another collaboration with New South Trading Co., this time featuring K-9 Henry, our very first Peer Support Program Member.

Monster K9 Dog Toys donated $8,000 to our Program Members from their Q1 sales. We are so grateful to be the recipient of their generosity. It helps ensure our ability to care for our Program Members across the country. Thank you, Monster K9 Dog Toys!

Special thanks to Nine Line Apparel for their help designing the K-9 Callie apparel line and donating back $5,000 in sales to our organization.

Many thanks to Black Gold Explorer Dog Food for donating $5,000 of their product sales to us. We appreciate you!

Admitted to our program in March 2025, these dogs are now lifetime members of the Project K-9 Hero Pack and will receive full medical care for the duration of their lives from our organization, thanks to you!

MPC Hans
Program Member #328
Please welcome Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) “Hans” as the 328th Member of our Project K-9 Hero Pack. MPC Hans is retired from the United States Navy, where he completed three tours, one with SEAL Team Seven, and two with SEAL Team Five, serving for a total of 7 years.
MPC Hans spent his first years conducting service training and conditioning in preparation to deploy with Naval Special Warfare (NSW). At NSW he specialized in apprehension, tracking, and explosives detection. His missions included direct action, fast-roping, rappelling, and maritime operations which included over-the-beach and interdiction operations.

MPC AMIE
Program Member #329
We welcomed Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) “Amie” as the 329th Member of our Project K-9 Hero Pack. Although we assisted her family with all of the medical care she needed, she unfortunately lost her fight with Breast Cancer and passed soon after her admission. You can read more about her in our End of Watch section below.
Amie, was a seven year old Belgian Malinois, and was the first female SEAL MPC on the west coast teams. During her time as a SEAL MPC, she completed multiple rigorous workups, followed with three deployments to CENTCOM. Amie honorably and faithfully served on SEAL Team 1, SEAL Team 5, and SEAL Team 7. She specialized in explosive odor detection, non-lethal apprehension, and various maritime, air, & land-based insert/infil techniques.

MWD IRAS
Program Member #330
Please welcome Retired Military Working Dog “Iras” (Z361) into our Project K-9 Hero Pack as our 330th Program Member. MWD Iras was retired this month due to a history of Aggressive Behavior towards his Handlers and staff. His trainer contacted our organization in an attempt to find him a new home, or else he would have been out of all options due to military regulations.
Even though our Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility was completely full, we knew that we had to find the space to save Iras’s life. With the recent passing of MWD QQuanah, that freed up one space. We still have over 40 applications on file to take in new Heroes here at the facility, which is why we need your help with our Capital Campaign.

MWD ATINA
Program Member #331
Please welcome retired Military Working Dog “Atina” (X614) to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, as our 331st Program Member. Recently, she found herself in the emergency room with a blockage that required an emergency, life-saving surgery that our organization paid $9,852.43 to help save her life.
She is doing well and we are pleased to welcome her and her family to our Pack!

It is with sadness that we let you know we lost one Pack Member in March of 2025. We salute her for her service and will never forget her contributions to our country. You can read her full End of Watch post on our website.
MPC Amie
Program Member #329
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share in the passing of MPC “Amie” due to her complications from Breast Cancer. Amie was bravely and courageously fighting her diagnosis over the last few weeks of her life, however an extremely unusual blood clotting issue, which can be present in the type of cancer Amie had, developed and rapidly worsened to the point where nothing else medically could be performed to save her.
Her bravery and service will never be forgotten.
